About the Event

The Netflix series Atypical gives a fascinating perspective on the uniqueness of every individual. The story involves a teenager who is "on the Autism spectrum," which means his brain functions rather differently than that of a typical teenager. He lives with his very protective mother, his patient but not particularly insightful father, and his younger but larger sister who both treats him like any other sibling and gently accommodates his sensitivities. Therein lies the lesson for the audience — everyone is unique, everyone has unique sensitivities, and everyone needs acceptance as the person that they are.

In this webinar, we’ll look at how we live with our uniqueness and the uniqueness of others, asking, "Do we truly accept ourselves and others as we are?" As a remedy to our judging ourselves and others, we'll explore ways we can give ourselves and others empathy and compassion. We'll also examine the concept of "normal" and see how it has more to do with average, typical or ordinary behavior and less to do with the exceptional, atypical and extraordinary features of our unique personalities, abilities and physical appearance.

In the Group Clearing® session, we'll clear memes (rules) and expectations around our uniqueness and that of others so that we gain greater acceptance and impose less judgment on ourselves and others.
