Confronting Our Mortality and Immortality

At some point in our lives, we realize that we won’t live in this body forever. Sooner or later, something happens that forces us to confront our mortality. The trigger might be the death of a relative or friend, a serious illness or accident, or just the appearance of signs of aging. Whatever the cause, we come to realize and confront the fact that we are mortal.

As we contemplate our mortality, naturally, we also contemplate what will come after our death. How we view death and possibly some afterlife results from many factors: religious teachings, philosophical writings and lessons from our cultures. The general lack of agreement can produce insecurity and fear of dying, as can believing that we will be reincarnated and bring into future lifetimes karma both “good” and “bad.”

In our webinar, we’ll consider what we might experience as we confront our mortality and speculate about what might happen after our death. We’ll also examine the consequences of the possibility that our souls might be immortal and the implications of that for our karma (actions) in future lifetimes.
